Answers:

How do I Backup my database?
Run Key Account Manager.
From the menu bar, select [Data] and then click [Backup / Restore Data...].
A new window titled "Key Account Manger Backup" will appear.
To save your database to a location other than the default (Data Directory), click the [Browse...] button and select a location.
Click the [Save to Backup...] button.
If an existing backup exists, a Warning Message will be displayed stating that there is already a backup in this location; click the [Yes] button.
Your database will now be backed up to the location specified; Click the [Close] button.

How do I Restore my database?
Run Key Account Manager.
From the menu bar, select [Data] and then click [Backup / Restore Data...].
A new window titled "Key Account Manger Backup" will appear.
To restore your database from a location other than the default (Data Directory), click the [Browse...] button and select the backup file.
Click the [Restore From Backup...] button.
You will be prompted with a Warning Message informing you that your database is about to be replaced; click the [Yes] button.
Your database will now be restored from the location specified; Click the [Close] button.

How do I save my Export Key to a file?
Run Key Account Manager.
From the menu bar, select [Data] and then click [Upload Data From Keys...] or click the [Upload] button from the toolbar.
A new window titled "Key Data Receiver" will appear.
Click the [Export to file...] button.
The records will be read and a new windows titled "Save as" will appear.
It is recommended that you name the file to the date along with a count on the number of times keys were saved on that particular date.

Example:
  • Two (2) Export Keys are to be saved on January 5th, 2003.
  • The first filename could be 01052003-1.csv
  • The second filename could be 01052003-2.csv

Adapting the process of naming your export records will prevent confusion later on and will give you a quick and easy way of locating your archives.
Once you have renamed the export file, click the [Save] button.
A message will be displayed once the process is complete stating "Saved key data to: [location of file]".
Click the [OK] button.
Your controller Export Records will now be saved/backed up should they ever need to be imported again; Click the [Close] button.

Notice: The above proceedure does not import your Export Key records into your database...

How do I import records that were previously saved to a file?
Run Key Account Manager.
From the menu bar, select [Data] and then click [Import Key Data From File...].
A new window titled "Import Key Data From File" will appear.
Click the [Select File...] button and locate the file containing the records to be imported.
To view the records without importing them, click the [Preview Data] button and the records will be displayed.
If you are sure you want to import these records, click the [Import Data] button.
When the import process has completed, scroll down to the bottom of the Preview Data area; a message similar to the following will be displayed: "Database updated with 28 records".
You Export Records will now be imported; Repeat the process above to import more records or click the [Close] button to return to the main screen.

How do I upgrade to the new QuikPay software from an earlier version? Notice: Before performing this upgrade, read the steps in their entirety, print these directions out for reference and please contact a KeyTronics representative for assistance if you are unsure or have any questions about any of the following steps.
  • Backup your database using the steps above.
  • Insert the CDROM into your CDROM drive.
  • If the installation program does not automatically start, click the [Start] button on your taskbar.
  • Select [Run...].
  • In the space provided, type "X:setup.exe" where "X" is the letter of your CDROM drive.
  • Install the new software following the directions on the screen.
  • When the software has finished installing, goto Windows Explorer and locate the "C:\Program Files\Datakey\ExpressKEY\data" directory.
  • Using your mouse, right click the file named "ETrackerDB.mdb" and select "Copy".
  • Locate the directory "C:\Program Files\Datakey\QuikPay\data".
  • Select and delete the "QTrackerDB.mdb" file.
  • From the [Edit] menu, select [Paste] and your existing database will be copied to the new location.
  • Select the "ETrackerDB.mdb" using your mouse.
  • From the [File] menu, select [Rename] and rename the file to "QTrackerDB.mdb".
  • Close Windows Explorer.
  • If you were provided with a patch disk, insert the patch disk into your floppy disk drive at this time.
  • Once again, click the [Start] button on your taskbar and select [Run...].
  • Click the [Browse...] button and locate the floppy drive and select the patch file (ie., patchXXXX.exe where XXXX is the patch version).
  • Select the [OK] button to install the patch.
  • If you were not provided with a patch disk, goto QuikPay™ Software Patch/Downloads page and download the newest patch from this page.
  • For directions on installing the patch from the web-site follow the directions on the download page.
  • Run the QuikPay Key Account manager program.
  • The first time the software runs, a message will be displayed notifying you that your database requires updating. Click the [Database structure needs to be updated, press to update...] button.

Your new software will now be installed and ready for use.
